Rev. Steve Bass and his wife Pam

Reverend Stephen M. Bass was called to serve as Pastor of Sunset Road Baptist Church in 1990. Steve graduated from UNCC with majors in
history and political science in 1979 and went onto Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary to complete his Masters in Divinity in 1992. Pam,
his wife also graduated from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary with her Masters in Divinity in 1982. Read some of Steve's sermon notes here .
Steve and Pam met while in Seminary. Steve would visit Pam's home where he could get a good home cooked meal. They were married on
August 2, 1980 and after graduation, Steve began serving at New Sandy Creek Baptist Church in Henderson, North Carolina. He service there
until his move to Sunset in 1990. Pam serves as Sunset's Education Leader and leads the Sunlighters (Senior Citizens). Pam is also a contract
writer for preschool curriculum for Lifeway Christian Resources.

Jackie graduated from William Carey College (a private Baptist college in Hattiesburg,
MS) in 1980 with a double major in Medical Technology and Biology with a minor in
Chemistry. She considered another major or minor in music but couldn't the time for
something so completely different. She settled for taking piano classes in college and
playing in several piano recitals at the college level.
During Jackie's last year of college she completed an internship as a Med Tech
student in a hospital setting. She spent that year of college at Jones County
Community Hospital where she met Wiley Coleman. Wiley was a Tech on the night
shift and became instant and enduring friends and that's how she met Bob!
When Bob came home from the navy in March of 1980, Wiley gave Bob his friend
Jackie's phone number and the rest as they say is history. Jackie and Bob were
married Aug. 23, 1980 and recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.
After getting married, Jackie and Bob moved to Charlotte where they attended Grace
Baptist Church. Jackie served as their pianist there in 1981. In 1984, they moved to
Baton Rouge and began serving as pianist at Brownfields Baptist Church almost
immediately. From Baton Rouge in 1986, they made several moves around the county
- Delaware, Georgia, and Mississippi, before returning to Charlotte in May of 1988.
Jackie and her family have finally settled at Sunset Road Baptist Church in the fall of
1988 and began serving as our pianist.
Jackie and Bob have two boys, Chris who was born here in Charlotte in 1983, and
Josh who was born in Baton Rouge in 1985. Chris presented Jackie wither first
daughter last year when he married Ashley and Josh presented his mom with her
second daughter in Dec 2005 when he married Nicole.
